The Category Development Manager - Club Team is responsible for understanding the wholesale club business and membership in order to grow the confections category. This entails developing detailed category analysis, creating business building recommendations, and delivering solution leadership presentations as part of the Drug Club Mass team. More specifically, this position supports Costco Wholesale and BJ's Wholesale.
Responsibilities:
- Sales Opportunity: Detect opportunities for sales growth by compiling syndicated market data, investigating and validating issues through consumer panel trends, and conducting market visits. The incumbent must analyze distribution opportunity gaps, recommend pricing actions, and analyze promotional events.
- Strategic Sales Planning: The incumbent will utilize information insights to create an action plan of strategies and tactics to increase unit sales, dollar sales, and dollar profit. The incumbent will create sales presentations and work with the Club Team members to deliver them to the customer.
- New Item Distribution: Responsible for working with National Category Management to develop a fact based sales presentation to gain distribution on new items. Develop a recommendation to rationalize underperforming Wrigley and competitive SKU's.
- DSMP Management and Tracking: Incumbent will manage weekly and monthly consumption trend reporting for both the internal and external customer. Category manager will present findings, solutions to issues, and develop customer-focused recommendations to both Costco, BJ's, and Wrigley.
- Special Projects: Perform special projects as requested by the Director of the Club Channel, Team Leader, and National Account Manager.
Requirements:
Given the complexity of providing category business building insights to 2 top 20 customers, this position requires account sales experience, advanced analytical experience, an understanding of consumer behavior and marketing research and strategy, a knowledge of current consumer product sales industry trends, a complete understanding of the category management processes, exceptional written and oral communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Office skills. This position also requires strong teamwork and interpersonal skills as this position is responsible for interacting with and working closely with key account personnel as well as internal key constituents.
