About the Association

Highlights
The Category Management Association (CMA) features a comprehensive Website, weekly e-newsletter, Share Groups, resource directories, best practice surveys, and global events, and is the only organization creating academically and industry recognized training standards and offering certification programs for category management professionals.

Overview
CMA was founded in 2004 in response to the need for formal training standards and certifications in the area of category management. While this remains the core mission of the association, it has evolved into a forum connecting a broad range of strategic planning functions from both manufacturing and retail including: consumer and shopper insights, analytics, and marketing, in-store execution, merchandising, trade promotion, and pricing.

Global members include businesses and individuals from both the top consumer goods companies and leading retailers, as well as midsize companies, universities, and solution providers. CMA collaborates with its members to realize best practices and advance the discipline of category management. Together we solve common problems with innovative solutions.

CMA serves as an unbiased central source for industry information and is unparalleled in its sole focus on category management. Our only vested interest is in our members.

We invite you to join and encourage your participation — it’s your association.
